We had a fun new game. It involved knocking over the green thing with a spout that our humans fill with water. They call it a watering can but it doesn’t bear any resemblance to the sort of cans with food in that they sometimes open for us. We’re jealous of the plants and have been doing our best to destroy some of them. Don’t see why they should have the water so we spill it all over the floor. Our humans don’t seem to pleased with that though and have been giving ALL the water to the plants and not leaving any for us to play with.

It’s supposed to be Spring but it feels as though we’re still in Winter.

Jinsky thought he had found the ideal place for a nap but even he decided it was just a bit too hot after a while.

We’ve decided we like the look of this new Scratching Post thing. It will make a change from us making our mark scratching the furniture etc! Speak to you again soon.

Well, well, doesn’t time fly! Our first full summer has been and gone and we are now over fourteen months old.

There’s been plenty to keep us occupied. Apologies for not keeping in touch.

We’ve been a bit quiet on the internet lately but not at home.

Our humans haven’t let us near the laptop Mac which has the blogging software on it, so we haven’t been able to tell you what we’ve been up to lately. Till tonight

Jinsky has taken up climbing. So far, he has reached the top of the bookshelves and from there onto the top of the door but has yet to work out how to climb up the bookcases. He also likes to jump onto the window ledge high up in the stairwell, from where he has a good view of what’s going on outside, especially as regards birds. Rudi has been sitting on the other window ledges at normal height and has been getting very excited about smaller things flying around outside the house. We are told that they are called ‘flies’. Hmmmm.

For some reason, our humans are getting up a whole hour early in the mornings now, so we are getting our breakfast earlier - long may it last!

Well, that’s about all for now as it’s getting a bit late. Maybe we’ll get to the computer again during the next week.

Rudi here again.

Remember I told you how I got the fridge open but that the humans fixed something to the door that stopped me doing it again? Well, I thought I’d have a go at the other fridge this time. I discovered that the feet turn on this one and that if I turned just one foot far enough, the fridge would rock forwards - something else they fixed with the other one by putting a thin strip of wood under its front feet, which don’t turn round.

The humans didn’t realise what I was doing, thinking I was earnestly trying to retrieve a toy that had become stuck underneath. When I thought they were settled down in front of that thing which has moving pictures on it (absolutely fascinating by the way), I had a go at opening the door and it worked, hurrah! Not so much of a hurrah when I didn’t find anything interesting to eat in it. Just fruit and veg and some things in boxes I couldn’t open. Then, to make things worse, one of the humans caught me at it, found what I’d done to the foot and screwed it all the way down again so the fridge can’t wobble forwards.

Rats! I’ll have to be more sneaky the next time I try to get into something they don’t want me to.

Jinsky has been having fun. He jumped across from the bannister rail on the landing, over the stairwell, to the window opposite, which is something I’ve been contemplating having a go at myself. The humans laughed as he looked down at them from a height and then tried to persuade him to come down. He let them try to reach him by ladder and then deftly leapt from the windowledge to the top of of one of the stairposts and down onto the stairs.

Rudi (and Jinsky)

Well, would you believe it! We had yet another car ride last week, to the same place as before. This time, we both had a needle stuck in us and had something stuck in our ears and wiggled about. To be honest, Jinsky’s ears had been itching a bit but Rudi’s hadn’t. Jinsky had his teeth looked at again but the ‘vet’ said they looked ‘much better’ and something about them ‘erupting’.

We’ve been having fun chasing an avocado seed round the house. We found it on the kitchen worktop. It makes a lovely sound on the wooden floors, which makes a change from the bells and rattles inside our toy balls.

We’re still trying to find our way back into the fridge but hard as we try, the door won’t open any more and we still haven’t figured how to undo the thing they’ve put on the door that seems to be thwarting our efforts.

Must go now; we have some serious sleeping to do before our next ‘mad half hour’.

Purrs and miaows to all our readers.
Rudi and Jinsky
